I have a confession.

No one anticipated my career in cosmetology, as it seemed at odds with my love for science & nature.

But beauty routines were an important part of my upbringing.

I was raised as an army brat on Cape Cod, MA. When I wasn’t with my mom on the military base, I was with her at the hair salon. I loved watching the way my mom’s worries seemed to briefly melt away, and the solace salons can provide during the most difficult times of our lives.

The women in my family have different priorities, but we share the belief that beauty routines are an opportunity to clear your mind, give yourself some love, and honor your individuality before you carry out your duties for the day.

I became a cosmetologist because I wanted to help uplift other people, and I would cut any hair in sight as a child. When I started having skin reactions & health issues during my cosmetology training, I had to develop a new approach to the products and services I offer.

Now I help clients reshape their relationship with beauty by nurturing their skin, hair & mindset. I’m best known for my dedication to connecting people with reliable resources & blending ancient traditions into modern lifestyles.

I believe that salons can be a supportive space to exchange ideas, explore our sense of self & influence positive societal change.

In my spare time you’ll find me watching TEDx Talks, visiting museums and local small businesses, or experimenting with mindfulness practices to keep my inspiration flowing.

I graduated top of my cosmetology class in 2010 & continue to seek high quality education. I’m an American Board Certified Hair Colorist and member of The Lab at Formula Botanica.

Healthy Humanity

When I recognized the lack of trustworthy guidance in mainstream media, I decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at Bridgewater State University (class of 2018).

With the help of my advisers, I was able to handpick my coursework to become an advocate for the ethical sharing of cultural & scientific information in support of a healthy lifestyle and a more sustainable future.

Sustainability

Studying environmental geography, evolutionary nutrition, business management and communication, land protection, constitutional law, forensic geology, chemistry in everyday life, biological anthropology, archeology, and other related courses shaped my offerings and my ability to connect clients with reliable resources.

Spirituality

Along with beauty routines, my family also passed down psychic gifts. I became an energy healing practitioner so I can use these gifts to help clients radiate beauty from within. I’ve always been curious about spiritual traditions.

I took courses exploring symbols in culture & consciousness. We deconstructed how our complex personal identities shape our understanding of the world(s). We also defined the line between appropriation vs. respectful participation in cultural customs.

Dance Classes

I hold a minor in Middle East Studies and studied world dance, creative dance, and Indian classical dance in college. I focused on the role that dance forms have played in healing, embodiment & social/environmental justice efforts.

Through my education and personal experiences I learned that we are all impacted by greed & cruelty in the world, and our shared joy is the medicine.

“I have to say, Erica is the most talented hair stylist I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Her talents and beautiful personality make for a very pleasant experience every time I sit in her chair.”- Florentina k.
