There is an ugly side to the beauty industry that I aim to change.

Beauty shouldn’t cost us our mental health, hurt animals or threaten habitats. I use a process called life cycle analysis to ensure that the alternatives I promote do more than just make us feel good - they actually make a difference.

We can honor the earth in style.

 climate positive

I offset my business carbon footprint with a membership to 8 Billion Trees. They plant 22 trees & conserve 220 each month on my behalf. They are dedicated to supporting biodiversity, offer aid to wildlife & educate communities around the world to fight against deforestation which protects habitats.

waste repurposed

As a certified Green Circle Salon, 95% of my salon waste is diverted from landfills and waterways. Leftover hair color, aluminum, hair clippings, old styling tools and more can be properly recycled or transformed into something new. Even our PPE is recovered instead of polluting our planet.

energy reduced

My blow dryer has a patented eco-drive motor that uses 75% less energy than traditional dryers & reduces EMF. I don't use any hair color processors. ECOHEADS shower head uses 65% less water & the Ping color mixer reduces color usage up to 20%.

PRODUCTS SHOULD BE DESIGNED TO NOURISH AND RESTRUCTURE YOUR HAIR, AND I BELIEVE INGREDIENTS OF PLANT ORIGIN ARE BEST SUITED FOR THE JOB.

green chemistry

What started with a stance against petrochemicals, turned into so much more. Products at Green Grotto Beauty are inspired by nature and backed by science without questionable ingredients.

vegan & cruelty-free

No animal ingredients are in our formulas and they are also not tested on animals. Our snacks are also 100% vegan. Many of the brands I work with, like Kavella, donate a portion of profits to animal rights organizations.

organic & fair trade

Fair Trade partnerships ensure that farmers are paid the proper wage through transparent and traceable transactions. This relationship provides economic stability and empowerment to developing countries. Their communities are strengthened which in turn, protects the environment.

Are you a beauTY PRO?

Many hair stylists find my corner of the internet and want to learn more about my methods, so I created the Green Grotto Beauty Collective. Finally, we have a space to connect about sustainability and share ideas without pressure from pushy sales people.

I am committed to diversity, equity, inclusion & anti-racism.

Every Earth Day 1% of net profits are donated to Cultural Survival, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit working toward a future that respects and honors Indigenous Peoples' inherent rights and dynamic cultures, deeply and richly interwoven in lands, languages, spiritual traditions, and artistic expression. I also commit 30% of my salon education to curly/textured hair color, cutting, and care. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, my business welcomes all gender expressions. Drawing from my Anthropology training, I actively work towards delivering culturally sensitive information with an intersectional approach to beauty, spirituality, and environmentalism.
